Introduction of Mental Health Leave Policy at NTU

Dear students:
(cc all teachers and colleagues)

To promote students’ mental well-being, self-awareness, and campus adaptability, our school has implemented the ”Mental Health Leave” starting from the first semester of the academic year 112. The details are as follows:

I.Legal Provisions:
Students who have difficulty attending class due to psychological discomfort or poor mental condition may apply for a mental health leave from the teacher on that very day, without providing supporting documents. Up to three days of mental health leave are allowed each semester.

II.Key Points:
1.Students can request the leave from the instructor on the same day.
2.No supporting document is required.
3.A maximum of 3 days each semester.
4.Upon student’s second application for mental health leave or when the total leave days reach two, the system will automatically notify Student Counseling Center and Center for Student Well-Being to establish a support mechanism.

III.Follow-up Support Mechanism:

1.When Campus Advisor receives the notification of a student’s Mental Health Leave, they will take the initiative to send caring letters to students, inviting them to have a meeting.
2.Campus Advisor will refer students to relevant resources based on their needs and assist them in adapting to campus life.
3.Student Counseling Center accepts referrals from school administration and academic units to help students access psychological counseling services and related mental health promotion resources.
