However, a notable shortcoming is that most mainstream hackathon competitions today predominantly focus on software, lacking integration with hardware implementation. Therefore, the Electrical Engineering Student Association at National Taiwan University proposed the idea of hosting a "software-hardware integration" type of hackathon. This concept allows students proficient in software or hardware to leverage their skills and engage in discussions with students from different fields. The goal is to harness Taiwan's technological advantages and create a unique hackathon experience.
In 2016, the Electrical Engineering Student Association at NTU organized the first edition of MakeNTU within the department. Through this annual event, they connect the most talented students in the field of electrical and computer engineering from all over Taiwan. Collaborating across schools and departments fosters talent exchange among different domains, igniting a new wave of technological innovation.
